Today was the last day of my Artist in Residence at the Wonderground gallery. I am overwhelmed with the positive response of my artwork this month and it was just a fun, exciting, busy and stressful 31 days!
I can say that I became SO much faster in painting, had the chance to meet many guests from all walks of life, and am touched that I could make so many people happy with just my art!
Also thank you to all my friends who took the time to pop on in this month.
The Disney cast members were amazing to work with and the guests who came in to see me totally made my day each weekend! I decided to take a picture with the lovely, thoughtful gifts and paintings from the staff at Wonderground Gallery and fans who came to visit me.
It was truly a blessed month and now, it is time to sleep for a very long time.

Jeff Granito and I played a fun little game tonight during our break at the gallery.
He said the names of Disney characters and I drew them from memory to the best of my ability. See if you can guess them! Ha!

Figuring out the colors for my Mickey and Minnie painting for the weekend in Photoshop before I transfer to paper.
Interesting tidbit. This Mickey Mouse idea was pitched to me by an 8 year old boy named Michael, who I met on the Megabus earlier this year. I ended up sitting across from him at a table while I was trying to figure out what to do for this event. He was really curious about what I was doing and I told him I had an event in the summer where I had to come up with a Mickey mouse idea and I didn’t know what to do.
He said, “Ohh..I know. You could have old fashioned Mickey and Minnie Mouse like…how Minnie had that little hat with the flower? and they’re skipping together holding hands in a patch of flowers or a garden. You could even do it in black and white! Like, very old fashioned.”
I ultimately decided not to do it in black and white but I took his complete concept. I hope he sees it one day and knows that I really did end up creating his very cute idea.

It’s the 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins. It seemed fitting to drink some tea and use my vintage Disneyland sugar spoon.

I am participating in an event this weekend at the Wonderground Gallery where they have 3 different artists come in a do live painting pieces Fri and Sat night. The original will be for sale and they might make prints of them. Since it is the Mickey Run Disney marathon weekend the theme is Mickey. I’ve never drawn him before so this will be interesting! The girls kept me company while I figured out my piece.

When I am having a tough time coming up with a character pose I will usually take pics of myself or a friend to figure it out.
Luckily my sister was visiting this weekend and danced around for me so I could get some sketches for a Briar Rose piece. Thank you my dearest graceful Kristen!
